As Derek walks outside the door of his small cottage he finds his fellow beastman friend Jake standing outside the door waiting for him. "Derek! finally! what were you packing? your entire house?" Jake said as he smiled and started over towards the door. Derek grabbed his small pack and he walked over Jake. "I was remembering the good times my family had before they....." Derek stopped as he looked into the sky. Jake stopped his huge smile and said to Derek "come on Man, you've got a big adventure ahead of you!". Derek and Jake walked together and they finally arrived at the town. "Hey jake, im gonna go say my parting prayers at the chapel. Stay here and dont leave while im in there." Derek said as he opened the door to the chapel and stepped inside. "Don't take to long!" Jake shouted as the door closed.

A large chapel with altars for each deity. Anyone about to travel should probably pray to Fharlanghn, the god of roads whose domains are Luck, Protection, and Travel.

Derek walks over to the altar of the god Fharlanghn, he prays for his safe travel and that he will find the evil men that killed his family and bring them to justice. He prays that he will not have to do this quest alone. But he knows that he will not find anyone willing to join him but Jake, and he cannot allow his friend to be hurt while he goes on this quest. For Jake does not know even the basics of combat and will surely be hurt, or worse, if he comes along. After he prays he goes outside the chapel and finds Jake, leaning against the chapel wall and says "Jake. Im going now. Goodbye my friend." Derek heads over to the inn to get a good night's rest and Jake heads over to his home, and before he leaves derek's sight he yells to him, "Derek! Dont get hurt, and make sure you come back someday!". Derek thinks to himself that he will not come back to the village soon, if at all. He then enters the inn and looks around.

You hast been blessed with safety of travel... kind of.

On the wall is a sign that lists the standard breakup of currency conversion.

The innkeeper, a short, stout dwarf says in with a dwarven accent, "Are ye just goeeng to stand thar, or are ye goeeng to rent a room?"

Derek looks at the dwarf and says, "Yes. I will rent a room."

The dwarf looks at Derek suspiciously and says, "Hold yer horses. Tha'll be 5 gold pieces."

Derek hands the dwarf 5 gold pieces, grabs his bag and slowly starts going to his room.

You go up to your room... and sleep. Then you find yourself in a dream...

You are in your former family mansion/manor/house thing. There is lightning. You are in your room. You hear screams coming from the living room.

Derek hears the screams and he runs into the room he thinks the screams are coming from.

You run in to see two men pointing guns at your parents, one man for each parent. They do not seem to have heard you. Your brother is dead on the floor, decapitated.

As Derek sees what has happened he screams out "NOOOOO!!!!!" and starts running towards the two men.

A bolt of lightning comes crashing down through the roof. It gets very close to hitting you. In fact, it hits a non-vital part of your body. It won't kill, and you won't lose your arm now, but you are stunned.

What do you mean? I did say there was lightning.

Derek falls to the ground and watches the whole scene play out, being able to do nothing.

The shots fire, the bullets go supersonic, a sonic boom is made, therefore going faster than the sound itself. So your parents don't even hear the sound of the gunshots that took their lives before they died.
You wake up.

Derek sits up and holds his head thinking for a few minutes. He then puts on his leather boots, leather armor, brass knuckles, and gloves. He then grabs his bag and walks outside.
